Custom Metadata Provider for Plex 1.43.0+

Requirements

  • Plex Media Server version 1.43.0 or newer (2024+)
  • No plugin installation required

Provider URL

https://api.tvsportsdb.com/plex

Setup Steps

    Open Plex Settings

    Open Plex Web and navigate to Settings → Metadata Agents

    Add Provider

    Click + Add Provider and enter the URL:

    https://api.tvsportsdb.com/plex

    Add Agent

    Click + Add Agent to confirm the provider

  4. 4

    Restart Plex

    Restart Plex Media Server for the changes to take effect

  5. 5

    Create Library

    Create a new TV Shows library and select TVSportsDB as the metadata agent

Troubleshooting

No metadata found

  • Check that your file naming matches the expected format
  • Use "Fix Match" to manually search and select the correct show
  • Ensure the show exists in TVSportsDB

Wrong match

  • Right-click the item and select "Fix Match"
  • Search for the correct show name
  • Refresh metadata after fixing
